A patient suffering from gum disease doesn’t automatically need surgical procedures. Dr. Carissimo can do an examination in her dental office, and determine if non-surgical methods would fix the problems.

How It Works

These procedures normally include a thorough dental cleaning, where the plaque and tartar are removed from above and below the gum line.

However, if the problem is more complex or is located well below the gum line, you may need scaling and root planing procedures done under local anesthetic, which removes bacteria and improves the health of the gum tissue.
